The newest installment of Tomb Raider was released in 2013 and plays out simply, but it is a fun and thrilling experience. Lara Croft must once again explore the island of Yamatai, which has been discovered early in the 21st century. Players will find themselves alone on an expansive island with just a map, some water backs to keep them alive, and Lara's trusty bow and arrow. This is another installment which uses an open-world system rather than linear levels like the previous installments of Tomb Raider. There are several different areas with each having its own type of dangers and challenges for players to face and overcome with their wits and abilities to traverse this tropical rainforest island. Music has become a huge part of the Tomb Raider franchise and it is no exception in this installment. The God-rays and crashing waves of the ocean meet some beautiful and mystifying music that truly allows the player to submerge themselves into this wonderful and beautifully created island. The beautiful music for this game is composed by Jason Graves who also composed the music for Dead Space 3, Dead Space 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, FEAR 3, FEAR 2, Red Faction Armageddon, Silent Hill Homecoming, etc. This is Jason Graves' third Tomb Raider soundtrack after Tomb Raider: Underworld & Tomb Raider: Anniversary which were both released in 2008. There are five different composers that worked on the soundtrack for this game. Rolf Mohr, who also worked on the Tomb Raider: Underworld soundtrack, composed some of the music. Bruno Coulais, who has worked on many great films such as Arrival and The Science of Sleep, composed two pieces. Christopher Lennertz, who also worked on the Tomb Raider: Underworld soundtrack composed three pieces. Finally, there is Paul Haslinger who composed one piece titled “Uncharted Island” which plays as you drive to the volcano at the very beginning of the game and is very fitting for this particular moment in time as you learn about Lara's background and how she got to Yamatai island. Unai Pansaran, who also composed the music for Tomb Raider: Anniversary, composed two pieces that fit perfectly with John Gonzalez's work on the cinematics. Paul Haslinger and Christopher Lennertz each composed one piece which is great to listen to all together. All in all, this music is beautiful and fits the game very well.
